Reflection on a communicative tool
ICT as a communicative tool
Definition
communicative tool is an application, software or technology that facilitate a two-way communication process, enabling effective interaction between teachers and students or among students themselves to overcome physical barrier of space and time.
Examples of the communicative tools include social medias, e-mail, discussion gro ups, chat rooms, online meeting room, blogging, etc.

communicative tool can be used in teaching and learning as :
- collaboration: using tools like Goggle Docs and Google Slides for group work and communication.
- Social media: utilizing social media apps to share information and ideas with peers and teachers.
- Blogging: using blogs to share thoughts and views with a wider community
- Other Platforms: communicating through email and other platforms like LMS- VLE and Google Classroom
My understanding on ICT as an communicative tool
ICT as a Communicative Tool plays an important role in today’s teaching
and learning process. It helps teachers and students share ideas, exchange
information, and collaborate with one another. Through communicative
tools, both teachers and students can overcome physical barriers of time
and place and communicate anytime and anywhere. These tools help in
creating a more interactive and engaging learning environment.
Communicative tools involve a two-way communication process between the
sender and the receiver. Examples of communicative tools include emails,
social media platforms, chat rooms, blogs, discussion forums, online
meeting platforms such as Zoom or Google Meet, and many more. These tools
support effective communication by allowing teachers and learners to stay
connected, share resources, and provide instant feedback.
Integrating communicative tools in the classroom has many purposes.
Firstly, it helps enhance the interaction between learners and teachers.
It allows students to discuss lessons, clarify doubts, and share opinions
freely. Secondly, it encourages collaborative learning where students work
together and learn from each other. Communicative tools also make teaching
and learning more efficient and profitable by enabling faster information
sharing. Furthermore, these tools promote clarity and coherence in
understanding what is being taught, as students can communicate directly
with teachers for explanations. Lastly, they help in constructing
knowledge through communication because the more interaction takes place,
the more learning happens.
Communicative tools can be divided into two types: Synchronous and
Asynchronous Communication. Synchronous communication means real-time
communication, where users are online at the same time. Examples include
online chats, video conferencing, and virtual meetings. It helps teachers
and students interact instantly, solve problems, and share ideas in real
time.
Asynchronous communication, on the other hand, does not require
people to be online at the same time. Examples include pre-recorded
videos, discussion forums, or emails. It allows students to learn at their
own pace and time, making learning flexible and convenient.
Application of communicative tool in teaching and learning
I will use communicative tool in my classroom while teaching different topics. I will use Padlet to introducing my lesson to check their prior knowledge. So, i will post a question in Padlet and share the link to all students to answer the question. For example:
Class: 3
Subject : English
Topic : Domestic animal
Activity: students will join in the link given below and add the answer. then post after finish writing answer.
- After they finished writing answers, i will be able to know their understanding on domestic animals
- And also i can give them feedbacks to enhance their learning by letting them to explore about the particular topic by collecting the resources and sharing which includes links, image and documents.
- by allowing students to comments on posts, they can ask questions and give feedbacks to their peers.
I will also use Slido by encouraging active participation of students in class to check their understanding using quizzes and setting a time to choose the answer. for example:
Class: 4
Subject: science
Topic: Food Chain
Activity: Students will attempt all the quiz questions posted in Slido by joining the link below in the given time
As a future educator, I see ICT as a Communicative Tool as a bridge that connects teachers and learners. It will help me design lessons that encourage collaboration, creativity, and communication. Using these tools, I can make learning more engaging and student-centered. They will also help me reach all learners, including those who may not be physically present in the classroom. In the future, communicative tools will continue to shape education, making it more flexible, accessible, and innovative. As an educator, it is my responsibility to use these tools wisely to prepare students for the digital world and lifelong learning.

Nice write-up 🥰
