Reflection on informative tool

Using Technology as teaching learning tool

what is informative tool?

ICT as an informative tool refers to the use of various technologies, such as computers, the internet, digital media, software, and telecommunication systems, to collect, store, process, share, and communicate information. E.g. LMS, Social medias, databases, websites, multimedia, etc.

My understanding on informative tool

ICT serves as a wellspring of information, leveraging a wide array of technologies. This includes the use of computers, the internet, digital media, software, and telecommunication networks. These tools are designed to collect, store, handle, share, and transmit information. To illustrate, Learning Management Systems (LMS), social media sites, databases, websites, and multimedia programs all fall under this umbrella. This specifically focuses on how ICT acts as an information tool.

Reasons for integrating informative tools in the classroom

  • Improves Understanding and Retention
Visual aids like images, graphs, and video clips facilitate comprehension and recall of complex subjects. They simplify complex concepts into more manageable pieces which makes students to grasp and remember the information easily.
  • support different learning style
Every student has their own unique learning style; some are visual, others prefer auditory methods, while some thrive through hands-on exercises. By incorporating diverse tools, educators can cater to these varied learning preferences.
  • promotes independent learning
Online resources, electronic books, and websites empower students to explore subjects outside the traditional classroom setting, at a pace that suits their individual needs and schedules.
  • prepares Students for the Digital World
Utilizing digital tools helps students build essential technological skills. These skills are crucial for both higher education and future career prospects.

Incorporating Informative Resources Into the Classroom
  • Employing Educational Videos and Animations
To explain concepts in science, mathematics, and other areas, consider using videos from YouTube Kids, Khan Academy Kids, or animated stories from Story Bots or National Geographic Kids can be useful for language learning.
  • It is good practice to pause videos at times to ask questions and have class discussions.
  • Introducing Infographics and Visual Aids
For subjects like science and social studies, consider including basic charts, diagrams, and colorful posters.
  • Employing Digital Presentations and Classroom Displays
Use Google Slides or PowerPoint to present slideshows that include images and videos.
  • Combining Technology with Hands-On Activities
After watching a short video about plants, set up a hands-on activity where students grow their own plants. Moreover, after a virtual museum tour, have students draw pictures based on their observations.

Various formats of informative tool

Application of informative tool in teaching and learning

Below are some of the examples of using informative tool in classroom.

Example of using Text and Image integration in my lesson

Class: 3

Subject: Science

Topic: Animals and their Habitats

Activity: Matching Games of column A with column B

I will also use one slide presentation in my lesson, letting students to boost their interest using text, image and sound  for easy learning and remembering. example :

Class: 2

Subject: Dzongkha

Topic: Domestic animal

As a future educator, I intend to integrate informative tools such as images, videos, and sounds into various topics to enhance lesson engagement and interactivity. Furthermore, the concepts acquired from these resources will be beneficial for generating new ideas in assignments and presentations.
